When? What? How? This session will focus on how to evaluate whether a student’s words or actions constitute a threat against the school in order to determine the school’s course of action. The presentation, which will include a panel of practitioners, as well as a law enforcement representative and District Attorney, will include discussion points such as:
 When can a student be disciplined for threats?
 What, if any, First Amendment issues are implicated?
 What are the standards for an administrator, SRO, or police officer to conduct a search on school property?
 What are the best practices for working with law enforcement when both entities are investigating the same threat?
 How should we handle requests from law enforcement for information?
