Biography

Ms. Smith’s current legal practice focuses on education, labor and employment law. She has represented school district clients in various matters before the Commissioner of Education, State and Federal courts, the New York Division of Human Rights and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. She provides counsel to clients on issues including student residency, student discipline, teacher tenure, APPR, discrimination, harassment, and bullying. She works extensively with clients on their policies and employee handbooks. She also conducts Title IX investigations for post-secondary institutions. Ms. Smith frequently gives presentations at seminars and workshops focusing on a variety of issues. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Smith worked for a management-side labor and employment firm. She has authored various published articles, and has been a contributing editor to “The Developing Labor Law” and “Employment Discrimination Law.”
