Drive-In Conference At TDWPM: Legal Updates for School Resource Officers

When

Tuesday, November 8th 2016 at 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Description

School Resource Officers (SRO’s) need to be familiar with a complex set of laws affecting their interactions with students, parents and school staff. The rapid pace at which the law in this area is developing reinforces the need for SROs to stay up to date on a number of legal topics, including:

• The Department of Education’s September 8, 2016 Dear Colleague Letter on the Role of SROs
• Elements of MOUs between School Districts and Local Law Enforcement Agencies
• Working with Transgender Students
• School Building Security/ School Security Plans
• Student Searches and Interrogations
• Confidentiality under FERPA
• Student Discipline
• Dignity for All Students Act (“DASA”)

Attendance at this important “in-service” training (which will include refreshments) is free of charge for all clients of the firm.

Please notify Aleah Long at along@tdwpm.com or 845-592-2009 BY NOVEMBER 1ST if you plan on having someone from your district attend.
