Description
As Towns returned to their traditional summer recreation activities in 2022, it was clear that change was in the air. We will address the following:
• Recreation Commissions—legal authority compared to the Town Board; who has the authority to appoint or terminate summer camp employees; who has the authority to draft/approve the Staff Handbook.
• Staffing Summer Camps—hiring process and requirements, training, once employed--employment requirements for those under the age of 18, staff discipline, staff shortages, and termination
• Effective communications between the Recreation Director or Commission and the Town Board, parents, and employees.
